9 Carry-On Essentials for 2019

Whether you are carrying on all of your luggage or checking a bag, you still need to have that perfectly packing personal item for the flight. To be fully prepared for travel, here are our 9 carry-on essentials for 2019.

Bluetooth Headphones

Whether you're on a one hour flight or a 13 hour flight, a nice pair of headphones are essential. Be sure to find a pair that has a long battery life and don't hurt your ears while wearing them for long periods of time.

Portable Charger

This is my number one travel essential that I'm always sure to pack. It's worth the extra money to find a charger that can give you at least five full charges. Our personal favorite portable charger has two USB ports, a built in flash light, and gives about seven full charges on an iPhone.

Travel Scarf

Packing a lightweight scarf not only helps you stay stylish while traveling but can also double as a blanket when the plane gets cold.

Travel Converter with USB Ports

If you're traveling internationally, you'll want to have an electrical converter no matter what. It's smart to keep a converter in your carry-on bag to use on the airplane and in the airport too. Finding one that no only has the electrical outlet but also has a USB port allows you to charge more at one time.

Inflatable Neck Pillow

Neck pillows are a life saver on long flights, but their downfall is that they can be a hassle to carry around on the rest of your trip. Pack an inflatable neck pillow that deflates and folds up to fit into your carry-on to save on space.

Kindle Paperwhite

I love an old fashioned paper book, but while traveling, my Kindle Paperwhite is my go to. Not only is it super lightweight and able to old an infinite amount of books, but it is also backlit, so you can read on nighttime flights without turning your overhead light on and disturbing others. In contrast, if you are reading outside with harsh light, you can still read the display perfectly fine, unlike on a phone or iPad screen.

Travel Wallet

Sometimes it's necessary to have a different wallet while traveling. Look for one that can hold important documents such as boarding passes, passport, credit cards, etc. but also has a pocket for coins. Depending on where you are traveling, they may use more coins than you are used to and you want to be prepared on where to store the. (We've made the mistake of traveling to Europe with a wallet that had no place to store coins!)

Socks

Like we said, planes can get cold! If you're traveling to a warm destination and wearing sandals or shoes without socks, it's smart to pack an extra pair of socks for the flight. Nothing is worse than have cold toes for an entire flight!

TSA Sized Lotion

Flights are known to dehydrate you. You should try to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water while traveling, but it's also wise to pack lotion to help keep your skin hydrated as well.
