Koh Phangan, Thailand

Day 1

Koh Phangan is the site of the infamous Full Moon Party. I actually ended up having a pretty low-key three days there since I was still kind of sick. Two of my friends, Becky and Jaaf, from Bangkok were staying at the same hostel as me and Allie from Koh Samui was staying right next door. Our first night there the whole hostel went next door to a sunset bar/viewpoint. Afterwards nearly everyone in the hostel went to dinner at the restaurant next to our hostel. It was SO good and we ended up eating there at least three times. Tonight there is a big party called "Jungle Party" with a bunch of DJs and whatnot but the majority of us decided to skip it. Half because it was $20 and half because we all wanted to rest up for Full Moon.

Day 2

We all had a pretty relaxed morning and got breakfast at the restaurant right next door. Then Becky, Jaaf, Allie, and I set off to find Full Moon Party attire aka tie dye tank tops and neon shorts. Then we spent the rest of the day at the pool/beach bar which is beautiful and we spent way too much time/money during our stay. That night Allie and I set off to find pizza for dinner and then everyone in our two hostels gathered outside to paint each other in neon paint and pregame for the big night out. Somehow everyone started the rumor that I'm "really good at painting" and everyone kept asking me to paint designs on their arms/faces. For the record I am extremely mediocre at painting designs and therefore lots of people had semi decent looking paint designs. ANYWAYS at the Full Moon Party you're supposed to stay up and party until the sun comes up, so at around 11pm we all got in taxis and headed over to the beach. After about 10 minutes of being on the street that leads to the beach party it started POURING down rain. Like really pouring. Within minutes the road turned into a river. But during this time of huddling under awnings and inside restaurants I ran into my two other friends from Bangkok! Extremely crazy since there are 10-20,000 people here. After awhile it didn't look like the rain was going to let up, so we just embraced it and headed out to the beach anyways. And that's where I ran into two more friends! Everyone I knew was going to be at the Full Moon Party I ended up running into. The beach is lined with a bunch of different mini parties where each one has there own DJ and loud music. Farther down there were fire shows, fire jump rope and lots of neon lights. The rain ended up letting up and it was actually really fun. Around 4am it started to rain again and we were really tired so we headed back.

Day 3

Today everyone slept in really late, for obvious reasons. I believe all I did was go to the beach/pool bar, go shopping, and eat. Tonight at the hostel we all watched a movie together in the main area and it felt like a giant sleepover.Headed to Ko Tao tomorrow!!!
