A Spa Day at the Homestead

The Omni Homestead Resort is nestled in the Allegheny mountains in Bath County, and is truly a unique resort that exemplifies old-world charm and hospitality. The history of the Homestead pre-dates the birth of our country. Explorers learned from the native Americans in this area about the healing qualities of the natural hot springs. A small, wooden hotel opened in 1766. After a fire, a rebuild, the exchange of several owners over 250 years, and renovations by several private groups (most recently the Omni), the Homestead stands as a shining exemplar of families, friends, and groups coming together to enjoy the beauty of nature, good food, nostalgic activities, and indulgent body treatments at their spectacular spa.

Enhanced spa offerings

The Omni Homestead Spa has been through several renovations resulting in a beautiful and relaxing environment, but the treatments have never wavered from their popular standards of mineral bath soaks, massages, and body scrubs.

Their facilities have upped the ante with an aqua thermal suite which features a cocoon sauna, steam room, experiential shower, “the chill,” and heated thermal lounges. Additionally, they offer body treatments and wraps, facials, and typical salon offerings, including nails, hair and makeup, and services for kids and tweens.

Make a day of it

To make the most of your spa day, you want to spend the whole day there. Schedule your spa treatments for earlier in the day so you can take full advantage of all the offerings. Relax in the aqua thermal suite. Cozy up in a warm throw blanket and take a nap in one of the relaxing lounges. Eat the snacks, drink the infused waters, sip the tea. It’s all lovely. (Their pricing structure offers a moderate discount Monday through Thursday.)

Next to the spa is their beautiful and nostalgic indoor pool and the well-equipped fitness center, which features a number of very good class offerings. There is also a lovely gift shop that has many of the spa products used during their treatments and a nice selection of swimsuits and activewear.

Serenity Garden

One of the nicest features at the Omni Homestead Spa is their Serenity Garden. A pass to the garden is included with any 50-minute+ treatment. You can purchase a day pass to the garden without any spa treatments, any day except Saturday. The Serenity Garden features an infinity pool, a hot tub, the historical octagon pool, a fire table, cozy seating, private cabanas, and food & beverage service. I love lounging there for several hours after my exhausting spa treatments, sipping a cocktail, and rotating between the pool and the hot tub.

End your day with a shower and primping in the locker room (they have all the toiletries you need). Then, meet your friends or significant other across the street at the new Bacova Beer Company or the sumptuous Les Cochons d’Or for dinner.

I have been a fan of the Homestead Spa for a long time. They consistently provide high quality treatments with attentive service in a relaxing environment. Make sure to carve out at least one day of your visit at the Omni Homestead to indulge yourself at their spa.
