Phuket, Thailand
I will first start at the ferry ride from Ko Phi Phi to Phuket. I have never been on a crazier ferry ride than this one. At first, it was fun. The boat would hit waves and our boat would fly into the air and smack back down and everyone would scream like they were on a roller coaster. But it continued and never let up. Slowly people started making their way to the back of the boat where there were a ton of people laying down or puking off the side of the boat. I never ever ever get sea sick and I pride myself on that. But with this crazy boat flying all over the place I didn't feel too hot, I'll admit it. I eventually took two dremamene and tried to sleep on my backpack. I survived. We got to the port in Phuket and split a cab with four other guys we met on the ferry who were staying in the same hostel. Around this time I figured out that Florian had missed his flight to Bali because of all the flooded streets in Phuket. We quickly also ran into these flooded streets. We were dropped off at the end of the road and had to walk the rest of the way down the flooded road to our hostel It was prime flooding amount. Enough to make it cool but not enough to cause any damage or be dangerous.
We all thought that flooding like this must happen all the time but when we got to the hostel we learned that flooding this bad is extremely rare. It hasn't flooded this bad in at least 10 years! Which now made sense why all the locals were taking pictures of us trudging through the flooding streets in our backpacks.
But just like the crazy ferry ride, the floods started out fun and quickly turned not fun. EVERY RESTAURANT was closed. We walked around for 30 minutes before we found a place that was open and serving food. I don't think I have ever looked that hard for food in SE Asia. Food is usually the easiest part of our day.
The next day we didn't really do much because there isn't really much to do in Phuket. At least the part that we were in. We don't like Phuket. We are ready for Cambodia.
